John and Carolyn have huge fight in Park

On Feb. of 1996, John and Carolyn had a fight in Central Park and it was so heated, he ripped her engagement ring off her finger. In the Pictures, you can see John gave her ring back and they hugged, made up and walked home. They had no idea that this small moment would be captured by paparazzi taking their picture and video taping them. Most couples have heated fights, but can you imagine it being all over then news for your family and friends to see? Posted below is Richard Blow's account of the fight from the perspective of a George employee (the magazine John co-founded). I have also posted pictures and links to 2 videos. As far as I know, nobody truly knows what they are fighting about. If you know, please feel free to comment. Also, you can see Carolyn is smoking in one of the last pictures. It's said she walked up to a stranger on the street and either asked for a cigarette or a match to light her cigarette. This is a rare picture because like Jackie Kennedy, she would never be photographed smoking, but would smoke in private or when cameras were not around.

  2. This type of cruel snooping is responsible for the deaths of John Jr. as well as for the deaths of Carolyn and Lauren Bessette.
John Jr. was a frequent target of snooping and harassment since childhood and he took to flying his own plane to avoid the constant staring as well as people walking past him on flights just to get a glimpse of him. Had John Jr. not felt the need to fly is own plane for privacy all three might be alive today.

    1. John didn't fly that plane due to lack of privacy. John had more than enough money, more than enough connections to have a private flight chartered for them. He'd just gotten his pilot's license and he wanted to fly and felt he was sufficiently trained, when he was not.

  5. I know exactly what the fight was about. John had been asked by a guy he know only as a acquaintance, to be his best man at his wedding. John being who John is said sure, even though it made him uncomfortable. When Carolyn & he went to the wedding and Carolyn was sitting in a "family" seat she didn't understand until she saw the bride. The bride had begged her to be husband to ask John to be best man so she could get her picture in the style section of the New York Times. It's the coveted spot in the back where they announce wedding & having John be the :"bestman" would up the brides chances of getting that spot more likely. After the wedding, Carolyn raged at John for letting people step all over him. She was furious he let himself be used by the public for their own social climbing ways. She was such a private person & she was so in love with John she could stand seeing this happen once yet ever again. Many of John's friends said she was the first girl to push back at him, and he needed it. After the death of his mother, he did not have the guidance he had had with his mother. She didn't like him dating actresses, she didn't approve of him getting an acting career. Just the walk ons "Murphy Brown" was it. She did not like Daryl Hannah. I don't blame her. She & his sister protected him from his big heart & the users out there.

  6. From the description of the incident, it is obvious that it was Carolyn who wanted to marry JFK Jr. and pushed him to do so, while he wanted to cancel the engagement a half year before the wedding.
