I think all Carolyn Fans have read Carol Radziwill's book "What Remains." In the book she seemed so shy and very private like Carolyn. I was surprised to find out she may be on the show Real Housewives of New York TV show. If this turns out to be true, I would watch the show to get know her better because she was a loyal and very close friend of Carolyn and John.

If she decides to do the show, I say go for it! She deserves to do whatever makes her happy. Plus, we might get to hear her talk about her past. Good for her and I hope she is enjoying life to the fullest!

It will be very interesting to see what roles these women take on in season five. Will Sonja buddy up with Carole and Aviva because they’re blonde? Will Ramona Singer start quarrels with Heather over business ideas? And who will be Countess LuAnn de Lesseps best friend now that Jill and Kelly are gone? Only time will tell.

Update: I couldn't remember exactly when these were taken. Was reminded by a CBK fan that these were taken only a few months after they were married. They were in "Vanity Fair several years ago, and the caption said January 1997. To be specific, I believe these photos were taken late January 1997 (maybe the 28th)".

These were taken on January 29th 1999. I love this look and I would personally wear this outfit today. Love the hair with the long layers. The coat and boots look amazing. This outfit and hair look very relaxed and carefree. She does seem a little annoyed and in a hurry to get away from the paparazzi though, which I don't blame her.

After 50 years, finally the tapes that Jackie recorded 4 months after the president died are finally released. She talked about living in the white house, people in politics, marriage, cuban missile crisis, and many other things. It was recorded at her home and you can hear John in the background. From What I believe, after she recorded these tapes, which are over 8.5 hours long, she never granted another interview again. This ABC special is two hours long just touching base on the 8.5 hours. You can buy the book and all of the hours are incuded with the book.

Some of the things she says are so very surprising but remember these statements are a snapshot in time and her thoughs changed on certain things. For example, she stated that Martin Luther King was "fake" and she said her marriage was "Asiatic" in which she means she had no political opinions of her own and a woman is only there to just exist to make her man feel like the man in the marriage. She stated "she had no opinions of her own, her :husbands opinions were her own when it came to politics."

Please watch and enjoy this two hour special ABC just put together this month. I can't wait to buy the book to get my hands on the entire 8.5 hours of tapes.

Wow.. Has it almost been a year since I've last posted??? I'm applying my Janet Sartin White Astringent yesterday (love this stuff, someone thought I was 7 years younger that what I really am this week) and realized I'm almost out and and need to place another order from NYC and thought of Carolyn. It's September, the month her and John married. I remembered my blog here and decided to come back for a new post.

The bad new is, my hard drive crashed and I lost all my photos, movies, and articles on her. Yes, even that much debated movie of John and Carolyn's wedding I paid the $10.00 for and saved to that hard drive is gone forever. Unless anyone else has it, please contact me. So starting over again and never letting our obsession die, I'm just starting back simple. Here is a video I found on youtube I have not seen before. I'm sure some of you have not, so enjoy.

Check out this article on camel coats for the season. They are back and the article mentions Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and when she wore that classic Prada camel coat that we ALL wish we could get our hands on.

John and Carolyn have huge fight in Park

On Feb. of 1996, John and Carolyn had a fight in Central Park and it was so heated, he ripped her engagement ring off her finger. In the Pictures, you can see John gave her ring back and they hugged, made up and walked home. They had no idea that this small moment would be captured by paparazzi taking their picture and video taping them. Most couples have heated fights, but can you imagine it being all over then news for your family and friends to see? Posted below is Richard Blow's account of the fight from the perspective of a George employee (the magazine John co-founded). I have also posted pictures and links to 2 videos. As far as I know, nobody truly knows what they are fighting about. If you know, please feel free to comment. Also, you can see Carolyn is smoking in one of the last pictures. It's said she walked up to a stranger on the street and either asked for a cigarette or a match to light her cigarette. This is a rare picture because like Jackie Kennedy, she would never be photographed smoking, but would smoke in private or when cameras were not around.

George Kyriakos was John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s close friend and hairstylist for many years. When he got the call in 1996 asking if he would style their hair for their secret wedding, he had no idea the look he helped create would go down in history as one of the most requested wedding styles of all time.

For the first time since 1996, George opens up to us about being a guest at one of the most hush-hush celebrity weddings of all time, and how to get Carolyn’s hairstyle.

Did you know it was a wedding where you would be doing Carolyn’s hair or did she keep it a secret?

GK: She was a very good friend, so we knew about the wedding but were sworn to secrecy. Her core group of friends knew, but we couldn’t say anything. I knew we were going there, and I didn’t even tell my family or friends.

Did she have an idea for her hairstyle, or did you help her come up with it?

GK: She came over a few times before the wedding, and we did a couple of tests to figure out what we wanted to do. She was very simple with amazing taste. She didn’t like things that were over the top. We came up with a classic twist with loose texture. The front was very clean, and there was some texture in the back to make it look like she had done it herself.

Can you take us step by step through getting this look?

GK: You take towel damp hair and add some volumizer or light leave-in conditioner. Then blow it out to give it that smoothness and shine. I wouldn’t flat iron it unless it’s really curly hair. Make a low ponytail in the back and then twist the hair around the ponytail. Loosely pin the ends but leave pieces coming out. Carolyn had a side part which you can’t see in the wedding photo that was released. The hair can be be finished an hour before the wedding. If you pin it securely, it should be fine.

Do you have any advice for achieving a timeless wedding day hairstyle like Carolyn’s?

GK: You want to look back in 20 years and think to yourself, ‘that looks really beautiful.’ No matter clothes or style, it has to be something classic. Sometimes people try to do things that are really cutting edge at the time and then they look back and don’t like it. I love to work with a side part or something pulled back and clean. But again, it depends on the girl. If her hair looks better down, then she should wear it down. People should do what looks good on them and not try to be someone else on their wedding day.

What was it like being one of 40 guests at their wedding?

GK: It was a very beautiful wedding and a great place to have it at the time. It just seemed like being at your friend’s wedding. I grew up in Canada, so I didn’t grow up with the Kennedys. John was just Carolyn’s boyfriend and then Carolyn’s husband. At the time, I had been working with celebrities, so it didn’t phase me too much. What phases me now is that they were just really kind and nice people. John treated everyone from the doorman to the cab driver like they were equal. Carolyn was like that too, very kind and generous. I feel lucky looking back. The amazing thing about them is that they were such good people and such nice people. Their true friends always remained quiet, and that’s a testament to them.

The reason this blog was started was because at one point UC was going to close down so I wanted a place where I could go and catalog Carolyn's style and celebrate the special person she was and I wanted to share with people who felt the same way. I have been following UC since the beginning and belive all the ladies on that blog are just wonderful to share ideas with and they do a great job to this day keeping it a great place for Carolyn lovers to get together and discuss her style. It's May so in the next few days, I'll try to post what Carolyn and John were up around this time of year. Spring and summer is when they were very active and often went on vacation to Martha's Vinnyard or Hyannisport. Or they often went to different events where Carolyn dressed in lighter things. Maybe we can get some ideas for the summer.

Carolyn and John take a stroll to get the Sunday paper on May 12th. They probably have the coffee started and are about to eat breakfast and read the paper together before they start the day. This is 4 months before the wedding. I don’t see an engagement ring do you?

The dye was cast the minute she walked down the aisle.

In marrying the scion of America's most ogled family, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy the willowy, 6-foot, size 6 blond with a Barneys addiction was destined to become, as Newsweek magazine christened her this week, "a fashion icon for the '90s."

We would put it another way: Carolyn's clothes, her hair style, the way she plucks her eyebrows and glosses her lips, will be the most studied and emulated personal statement since ... well, since her late mother-in-law awed the world with her style savvy more than 30 years ago.

You can safely bet Carolyn's signature look best described as an intoxicating cocktail of raunch and regal will be rampant on the runways of Bryant Park later this month when top U.S. designers preview their spring/ summer '97 collections.

Her banana-blond hair color as well as her grungy "bed-head" chignon will blow away Jennifer Aniston's high-maintenance flip as the global gotta-get 'do. Likewise, Carolyn's natural, no-makeup look must have the manufacturers of Vamp nail polish, black eyeliner and heavy-duty foundation ready to slit their wrists.

The key to emulating CBK's style is to understand what she is doing: creating a look good enough for the front-page of Vogue that appears to have been nonchalantly thrown together.

As if.

Basically, Carolyn has taken her former employer Calvin Klein's minimalist approach to dressing and given it a funky twist adding ideas from white-hot design houses like Gucci (the no-bra-possible navel-plunging shirts and vinyl pants) and Prada (instigators of the current "I'm-so-beautiful-I-can-look-good-even-in-these-dour-clothes" attitude).

Her wardrobe of clean-cut, flagrantly body-conscious clothes in a contrived mish-mash of neutral colors is occasionally jazzed up with edgy notes such as animal-print accessories.

Bartola Inguaggiato, a colorist for the Louis Licari Group who created Daily Newser Trine Giaever's new shade of bright blond only recommends this color for women with fair skin. After treating Trine's hair to a single color process he added highlights, warning her that because hair grows an average half-inch each month, she'll need a touchup every 4-6 weeks.

Senior Licari stylist, Josephine Saran, who gave Trine Carolyn's "bed-head" hair-knot (see below) says women obviously with the correct-length hair can copy Carolyn's simple daytime coif using a large, round brush to blow-dry the hair away from the face, before dabbing a little gel on the fingers and running it through the hair for a soft, sultry, windblown effect.

According to Elie Maalouf, makeup-artist with the Trish McEvoy company that specializes in a clean, unfussy look, Carolyn's maquillage is "very natural with a hint of color." That, of course, doesn't mean no makeup it just means a different application process (see "The Face" sidebar) and lighter shades than you may be used to wearing.

It has become a well-established fact among people who follow such things that Brad Johns does Camelot princess Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's hair. And how does he do it? "I cut Carolyn Bessette's hair in a private room," Johns told us. "The haircut usually takes around 45 minutes, and my fee is $300, the same for all my clients.

"We have great security, walkie-talkies and microphones everywhere," he said. "No one can get past our security. So when Carolyn makes an appointment, we just whisk her in and out."
Johns let down his guard just a little to let us know that Carolyn used to go for "a surfer look, tousled and sexy, like a little kid at the beach."

"Since John Kennedy married her, she became more regal," Johns said. "So now I make her hair a paler blond with a hint of Grace Kelly demureness, which is how she wants to present herself."

Carolyn is a wonderful client, according to Johns. "Of course we are chatting all the time, usually about her pets," he said. "She has a little kitten that she adores.

"I want Carolyn to look like her hair was naturally lightened by the sun. She says that she would like to spend a ton of time in the sun ... but at this point she is so hounded by paparazzi that it is impossible for her to go out in the sunshine as much as she wants."

The REAL Carolyn. Doesn't she seem so down to earth?
